General Science is a core curriculum study for all students from Year 7 through to Year 9. Areas of study within General Science include Biological Science, Physical Science, Chemical Science, Environmental Science, and Earth and Space Sciences.
All Year 10 students study one semester of General Science, and may also choose to study Applied Science and/or Life Science as electives.
Science subjects offered at the College for VCE students are as follows: Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Environmental Science, and Psychology.
Throughout each subject offered through the Science faculty, students undertake a range of activities, excursions and tasks, which enhances the transition of scientific knowledge from an academic to a real-life perspective. Excursions to locations such as the Melbourne Museum, ScienceWorks, water treatment plants and the Melbourne Aquarium all provide students with concrete evidence of the applications related to the learning they have undertaken within the Science subjects at the College. Guest speakers from various organisations and interactive activities conducted at the College, such as forensic science displays, also provide students with real-life examples of the information taught throughout the curriculum.
