The Visual Arts faculty encompasses four major areas of study: Art, Visual Communication, Media: Photography, and Media: Video. Students undertake Visual Arts subjects in an environment with access to technology and equipment of a superior standard.
Art is undertaken by Year 7 students as a core curriculum subject, and Year 8 students participate in Visual Communication as a core subject. Year 9 students are offered Art, Visual Communication, and Media: Video as elective subjects.
Year 10 students are offered Art, Visual Communication, and Media: Photography as elective subjects.
The VCE program offered by the Visual Arts faculty gives students the opportunity to select from four VCE subjects: Art, Visual Communication, Studio Arts: Video, and Studio Arts: Photography.
Throughout all subjects offered by the Visual Arts faculty, students learn to express themselves in a creative style, which allows the individuality of each student to come alive through the various tasks and assessment pieces set out in the curriculum. Personal expression through artistic methods often promotes a healthy level of self-esteem within the student, and is an effective method of working through and expressing emotions that the student may be feeling within themselves.
